2 macbooks - 1 dvd player - can i connect the 2 computers and transfer the OS to the other computer

2 macbooks - 1 dvd player - the intel Mac had it's dvd drive punched in ... the older Mac still has his dvd drive, but not intel, so .... can i connect the 2 computers somehow and transfer the OSX 7.? from the dvd on the old sys to the intel computer via the drive? Please keep in mind i am butt broke before you advise me to buy something that cost $100. Thanks.
